Today's Dance Lesson No.3 : Kajadefu

Kajadefu 
is a classical (court) dance and it was frequently performed before the king in the age of the Ryukyu Kingdom. Today, this solemn dance is customarily performed at the first item in programmers presented on festive occasions in the main island of Okinawa prefecture. 

The song of the Kajadefu bushi:
This joy and pride in today's ceremony, with what could it be comparable?
It feels like drooping flowers which suddenly come alive after receiving the morning dewdrops.

沖縄語
「けふの誇らしゃや なおにじゃなたてる 蕾でをる花の 露きゃたごと」

日本語
「今日の嬉しさは何にたとえることができましょう。
蕾んだ花が、露を受けてパット咲き開く心持である」

よろず世を寿ぐ、荘重な踊りです。
