Program of the Long Island Sakura Matsuri

 I will perform two dances and a song at the Long Island Sakura Matsuri.

今年のロングアイランド桜祭りの舞台は数年ぶりに古典踊りを披露いたします。
王朝時代に中国サッポウシ接待の折
秋の晩餐にて踊られたいたとされる古典女おどりの一つが月見おどりださそうです。

月見を主題にする唄で、「月の清らさ」で親指と人指指で作る月見手(ちちみてぃー)の
所作を左手で表現します。



Ryukyu court dance: 
Tsukimi Odori: A dance while viewing a moon
This dance is a part of the classical genre of dances, which were performed at the Royal Court during the Ryukyu Kingdom ear of the 18th Century.



Zo Odori: 
Nuchi Bana: A lai of cherry flower
This dance is a part of the genre of popular dance.
The dancer wears a Kasuri kimono and dances with a garland made of red and white flowers and with castanets.


Sanshin Folk Song:
 Tsuki Nu Kaisha: Beautiful Moon
This folk song is written on the Yaeyama Island of Okinawa,
the song's lyric is written in the Yaeyama dialect, and
 is called lullaby of the night.
